My local dealer has the new Cannondale!!!!
#1
Just saw it last night. I took about 20 pictures of it. I'll post them later today.
From what I understand there is only one other dealer that got a shipment from them. The first 2-3 quads that this dealership sells, the owners have to ride it and give a report back to Cannondale. Yes..this quad is already sold. The new owner put $7000 down back in April of 2000. The final selling price is $7995. Ouch!
Also from what I understand, this motor has been completely re-done after they realized how screwed up the Bike was running. This is according to a Cannondale rep.
PS: That thing must have a very radical cam...very rough idle...but sounds so good!

I agree 100%. For me, this quad is not worth the money. It does have some wild designs and ideas on it though. Should be interesting to see how it holds up. My dealer had a DS650 sitting around...they did a very small drag race in the lot. Well, the Cannondale is in a league of its own. To put it nicely...

Well, the whole frame kinda looks like that. I guess the entire quad (frame) is hand built. All of the welds show it was done by hand. It does look VERY WELL built, but crude...if you know what I mean (front bumper is a good example of that) Once I get the other pic's up, you can see how the main frame is in 3 sections. Its not one solid frame...that can be good and bad I guess.
Some very strange things I noticed...The bulk of the gas tank is actually in the back of the quad. The battery is located in the front bottom part of the frame...right in front of the engine. In the one pic you can see the red wires...not sure if I like that design. Also, the seat is ROCK, I MEAN ROCK HARD. The stock plastic is very durable...very thick compared to OEM Honda and Yamaha plastic. The pipe is a totally custom pipe made by FMF...they have a little tag on it that is stamped by FMF. Oh, and you dont get the $1500 Snap On tool kit like you do with all the other quads...just a little owners manual under the seat. I dont see this quad as being a regular trail riding quad. Just from looking at all the details, it is going to be a MX racer. There are too many hoses and wires that are just hanging out. Also the radiator has NO protection on it. One stick up in there and the cooling system would be done. One thing I really liked was the factory steel braided brake lines...very nice...
Like I said though, should be interesting to see how well these beasts run and hold up. Only time will tell.

Those are some cool pics you have there. I'm not one to bash other quads, but I wasn't impressed with it at all. To me, it looked like an overworked Polaris Trailblazer. The frame had nice welds, but didn't fit me at all. Now the one quad I am really excited about is that VOR Moturi quad. Now that was nice. As far as the little drag race, I would have to see it to believe it, not just because I own a DS. I don't see how a 400 can win a drag race against a 650 even if you are considering the weight difference. Juts my opinion though.
