Default 00 Recon pull start

Are there any special procedure when pull starting a 00 recon... I pull on the cord when the ATV is in neutral and it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something that needs engaged???

Thanks in advance

I would suspect some problems with recoil starter mechanism itself. Remove the recoil starter and pull the rope to see if ratchet mechanism turns.

It may need to be pulled apart, cleaned and lubed. Just the ratchet part......don't mess with the rope and spring!

When you pull on the rope, you should feel it engage.

I thought you should feel something when you pull the rope. I will mess with it tomorrow. Hope it isn't the rope/spring they can be a real PITA!!!

Thats funny! i was wondering what you were talking about... I was thinking to myself " why the heck would a pull cord be installed on a motor that can't be used?" LOL

you mean the cord pulls real easy, or can you feel it going through compression?

If you can feel the compression id say look for all on switches... and get out the ether...

Nope, i pull the cord and its free... No compression at all, motor starts fine with the electric starter. I will try to pull the recoil unit off and see whats not engaging.
