Honda Exhaust

STARScream,
Noise does not equal Power. Noise satisfies people who want others to notice them. But, when people notice them, they are neither impressed or envious. I do volunteer work for the U.S. Forest Service on motorized trails. I can assure you that when you take any loud machine (truck, atv, motorcycle, etc.) into a public area, you are literally sealing the fate for that area, and making sure that it will no longer be available for you, or anyone else to ride in, or enjoy. Not only are you sharing the area with other people, but you are very likely sharing the area with animals. If you are staying only on a race track or commercial track, do what you would like. But, if you are riding in an area which is shared with others, please be respectful and do all you can to MINIMIZE the noise and tread impact on the area.

TXRoadLawyer is absolutely right.
25 years ago I used to grab the loudest pipe I could find & install it on whatever I was riding at the time. My buddies all did the same. Fast forward to 2012 here, and there is NOWHERE to ride anymore in the state of MA. Back in the day, we could take trails anywhere across the state. Now due to regulation & population increases, all those places are off limits ... unless you like getting chased by the cops. Couple that with an increase of left-leaning treehugger type folks, & you don't have a prayer. If Obama could get elected, anything is possible.
MA successfully BANNNED - that's right - BANNED any off road machines for children under 12. EVEN ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY!! To get you to comply with that, they enlisted the help of the insurance industry. Own a home? Well, if you have kids-sized dirt bikes or ATV's on your property, they'll CANCEL your homeowners insurance. Never in my wildest nightmares would I think the state could get away with this .... but it's now too late for us here.
There are only 5 state forests legal to ride in, and none of them are closer than 100 miles away from me (for those lucky enough to live outside the Northeastern USA, that's a couple hour drive MINIMUM - more closer to 3 ...), the trails suck (rock & root central - sloooow going), & your always being interrogated by law enforcement. Some of the forests you can cover in 15 minutes, so it's very boring - especially if you own a 800cc machine like I do. The state demands you pay $40 for 2 year registration, but gives you nowhere to ride.
Now that I've grown up a little & understand politics, I've changed my outlook on this quite a bit. All my new machines retain stock exhaust, except for my vintage street machines where that's not possible. It's a losing battle - your not going to win against millions of whining, wealthy, liberal treehuggers. I hate what they stand for as much as the next guy, but if you want to keep riding this decade, I'd tone it down a bit. There's just too many city folks who don't know a moped from a chain saw ... but they legislate everything we enjoy - from guns, to bikes. Remember - Obama is in office now ....
Don't let it happen to you .... because trust me ... if you ride loud, it's coming ....
