i've bought several quads with just a bill of sales. the main thing i do with them is this:
he signs and i sign. seller/buyer etc....
date it,
write the VIN on the bill of sales. it's a receipt! find the VIN and put it on there. YOU, the buyer, KEEPS THE RECEIPT, make a copy if he needs it.
even though the VIN covers the year, make, model, size of cc of engine, i still write that down in the description. even put the color scheme of the quad.
Ex: 1991 Honda TRX250EX Red 2wd VIN (17 digit alpha-numeric code) sold by "x" to buyer "y" on this date 12/12/2011 for the amount of $127.50.
print the names then sign it. i know it sounds like i go overboard, but i don't want to lose out because someone wanted to cheese me on the deal and not be honest.
just my two cents, sorry if i threw a nickel's worth out there.

Yup, seen it before, get him to sign the bill of sale, that way in most states if it happens to be stolen somewhere along the way you can't be charged with recieving stolen property. I have quite a few quads and not one of them has a title, my state didn't start requiring titles till like 2005....not that it makes any difference as we still can't ride on the road legally except in the few small towns around that are ATV friendly.

So states require them also what saud above get bill of sale with ALL the quad infromation on it with both buyer and seller sign an maybe witness also if have an cop friend let them come an run the vin# an you can write down from your private use their name and date it was called in
