okay, 1st of all, how does he know they need replacing? asked him and all i heard was "pshhhhhht-then-pshhhhhhhhht-crank-phshhhhhhht" sort of unclear, so asking yall.
how much of a job will this be?
whats gonna happen if i dont?
thanks in advance for the help fellas

So have you tried using the kickstart? It could be as simple as a spring, or it could be the gear is wore down, but I find that unlikely. Even my 1980 Yamaha XS 400 still has a good kickstart gear, but the spring that engages it is another story.

I've my 450R since it was new (Feb. 2004) and have never had an issue with the kick starter bearing. What bearings is he refering to, the bearings in the side case? Shoulkd be an easy replacement, just remove the side case.
