I hope it works out for you too. In the future, you might want to stop running the motor if once you notice louder than normal/metallic sounds. Much cheaper that way

I think you are handling it just fine. Give the guy a chance to make it right. Give him a couple days but don't let it drag out ... Good Luck .....

I didnt see anyone ask, but did you check oil level? Let us know what the outcome is.

I've seen lots of 400ex's with timing chain issues. Seen one where the guide was knocked loose. You could tell it was getting back by a constant clicking.

Think others can learn from this. If you notice something that sounds bad. Don't start, ride, or run the engine until you can find the issue.

Hope things work out for ya man. That kind of stuff makes me, literally sick to my stomach when it happens.

You should have talked about the cost before anything was started. I can't think of any dealer down here that would fix a 10 year old used quad for free. Even if they did sell it to you. At best, you might get free labor and a discount (maybe) on the parts used.
