82-83 ATC200E Big Red forks
Hello.
I have an 82 atc200e and an 83 atc200e. They are pretty muc the exact same thing, how ever, both need the front forks rebuilt. I have found the parts to rebuild them, but the catch is, lets just face it, the fork design on those 2 years is horrible. The way the fork guides are set up is just asking for trouble.
I was wondering if I got the triple tree and lower fork assemblies off a atc200s or atc200m, would it line up correctly with my atc200e frame and hub/axle assembly? I know id have to switch out the steam bearing which is fine. I just want something more durable than the P.O.S. design of the atc200e's.
Let me know guys, thanks!

I decided what im going to do.
Im purchasing the entire front end off an 83 atc185s.
The forks, triple tree, tree top, axle, hub/ brake assembly, and the wheel/ tire. I know the tire is slightly smaler (22-11-8, compared to the big red 25-12-9). I figure this is a more reliable suspension set up and more durable. It evenly distributes the dampening force rather than the atc200e's which forces the front wheel outward and counteracts itself.
One last thing remains, do any of you know which style steering stem bearing i need for this to be converted? The regular old *****, or should i go with an All Ballz tapered bearing set up? Also, which bearing for which model, 83 atc185s or for the 83 atc200e big red in order to make this work.
Thanks!
