From my experience with my 400EX and my Uncles, I have concluded that the fuel/air mixture screw is what will change the idle and startup properties. Mine is 3 1/2 turns out and it starts better than his and will idle better than his, smoother anyway. The pilot jet might help too, I'm not sure, but I will be experimenting with it soon. I'll post the results.
