I change my filter every other oil change and clean the screen from the oil tank once a year.

Hello,
I am the tech manager at FRAM filters, my son also rides an EX400 Honda. You should change the oil filter every time you change your oil. You should most likely be changing more often than once a year as well. The EX400 is air/oil cooled, it places a big strain on the oil and filter. the correct FRAM part number is CH6015 and you can order it from any parts store that sells FRAM.
