Hi all, I just bought a '86 TRX 200sx last night from the origonal owner for 80 bucks. Great deal. Needs a few things of course. My main thing is getting it running. the previous owner said that he shut it off, and came back a few hours later, and nothing happened. no lights on the dash, no spark, no anything. Ive been over it, heres what ive found so far.

*checked the key switch, key turns on, and then allows the headlight and taillight to work. the swithces on the bars for those work fine.
However...the neutral light and reverse lights will not turn on no matter what gear its in.

Ive checked as much of the wiring i can, everything seems to be in working order, all is plugged in. i checked the main fuse, and thats fine. im really not sure what else it can be at this point... all im getting is headlight and taillight. the starter button does nothing either, and the starter is fine if i jump the starter...

im at a loss. i can do whatever wiring it may need, im just not sure what else it can be...


my other thing is, if its some little expensive plug or somthing, is there any way i can just wire a seperate toggle switch to get power to the coil and CDI box so it will run? i can make a seperate circut for the lights. I dont need the dash lights or any other fancy things, i just need ot to run, even if i need to rewire it all custom to get it there.

i do have the origonal manual too, but that seems to be of no help...

i checked the switch, so its not that... CDI box or regulator i guess??

 

i have 2 - part 3 wheelers 1985 200s with all elec intact, if it will help, i dont know enough. not looking for money, they will just sit here anyways. let me know if you need them

bbron I had a similar problem and by grounding out the gr wire going to change switch I got the neutral light to burn and then the unit would start. I never did get the reverse light to operate. suspect a problem with the change switch. please respond if this works for you.
