Default trx350 d 1986 hotwire help

Hi all. I'm new to atv and forgive my bad English
I am about to buy this trx350 but I have to start it first to make sure it runs ok before I pay for.
I see four wires coming out of the ignition switch.... Black, pink, red, red/black stripe. I did plugged together black and red and I hear a click sound but nothing else.
Ps: please be precise as I know nothing about atv.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums.

If it were here, the first thing I'd check is who really owns the quad. I would wonder if it were stolen if the ignition were broke.

This is not mine yet. The deal is... If it starts, I buy it. She, because it is a girl :-) who owns it does not have the key and papers. But if she does not get the papers of this quad I will not be a buyer. She made me a good price (I think) 500.00 Canadian money if it works. It is in a bad shape but I can live with this and it is leaking oil from the head cover but I think it should be easy to repair. For now I only need to make it turn to know if it the starter works. Here on my campground I cannot start it because we don't have the permission to use atv on the campground so will have to wait to get home to make it run and make it roll.

Ps: the ignition is still A1 and working but no key.
Thank you.

Buy a new ignition with the key. Have them give you the money you paid for it. If it starts, you needed that part anyway. If not, well they needed that part.

I've seen 3 first posts regarding the need to hotwire a quad. As per the others, hotwire instructions WILL be deleted.

Were can I get the ignition switch for cheap? Ebay? Or the best is to get it from honda dealer? And what should I expect to pay for it?

Sorry for this post. The question looks strange I agree ;-) and I understand the reason :-)

Thank you for the fast response.

... Forgot... Is 500.00 dollars a good price for the year and make?

Check ebay and some places that sell parts from the dealers microfiche. Ronnies or some place similar. A little cheaper than the dealer, but ebay would probably be the cheapest.

It's 25 years old and right now doesn't run. I'd give them 100 bucks for the parts.

And thanks for understanding. Quite a few times we've had that and after that one post, they're never heard from again.

Lots of great people and information here, but we really don't want to tell someone how to take our own quads.

Thank you.
If I finally buy it you will hear from me again because there is lot to do on this quad and I know nothing about these atv's.
I'll try to give it a go with the electric diagram anyway. I was asking the question just to make sure I won't blow anything :-[.

Hope I come back here with my new/old quad.

Thanks again.
