I'm wondering has anyone trailered their atv with it sitting upright -ie in its hind end?
I have a Rancher 4x4 and will also be hauling a Recon .
My trailer is a 5x8 with 15"tires.
with a 14" rail and a ramp.
I could haul one atv in the bed of my truck, but I will need that space to haul camping gear.
Or should I haul one on the trailer, one in the truck, and cram my camping stuff and ice chest on the trailer behind that atv?
I think maybe i just answerwd my own question, but I'd be grateful for your alls imput.
I'd be only traviling around 100 miles round trip .Thank you in advance

Standing your Rancher on end like that for any period of time will cause oil to come up through the crankcase breather hose and fill the air box.

I'd hate to see what it would do the finish on the racks. How about going with one of those quad decks for a pick-up bed? That way you still have bed space under the deck. Quad decks are not my first choice, I would personally prefer a larger trailer, but some believe they are the only way to go. Good luck.

You did not happen to mention if your trailer has a ramp mounted to it. Here is another idea, that I have seen done before. Bolt some 2"x10" boards horizontally across your trailer. It will be the same as that truck bed attachment that is advertised in Dirt Wheels. I've seen this done on a 5'x8' trailer before. Those people had the boards bolted to the trailer rail and also had a lip on each side of the board so the tires don't slip off the board. That is a really cheap solution to your problem. As for tieing down the quads, they had those web type tie downs that fit over the top of the tire and ratchet down on one end. By them hauling their quads this way they still had space under their quads for their tents and other gear. In your case you would have 14" of space under the quads to put what ever you wanted there. Hope this helps you out.

In addition to filling your airbox with oil, you will also run all the gas out of the system. You can shut the fuel off at the tank, but the gas in the carb will still leak out and make a puddle on your trailer bed or whatever is under it. Far better to haul one on the trailer, one in the truck bed, and stuff your gear wherever else it will fit.

Maybe you need a bigger trailer????
