2001 Honda 250 EX transmission/clutch issue
#1
I picked up an 01 Honda 250 EX a few weeks ago and rode it several times with no problems at all. Yesterday when I shifted into gear, it would not move. I know nothing about ATVs, especially with an automatic transmission. To me, it felt as something would feel if the manual clutch went out. I messed with it awhile and then got off of it, gave it a push and walked beside it giving it very little throttle. It then began to take hold and move forward. I jumped on and shifted into another gear, still giving it very little throttle to keep it from just revving and slipping. The more throttle I gave, the worse the problem would get. After all of this, it hit me, that last week while riding it, it did seem to act this way just a little and I didn't really think much of it at the time. I probably just assumed I was breaking traction when it was happening since I was in some sand and it was obviously running pretty well. Does anyone have any input on this? Is the transmission or centrifugal clutch tore up or could this be something less serious?
Thanks guys!
