I was riding my 2003 trx250ex this weekend when it started making a ton of noise, a resonating tinny vibration. It continued throughout my ride back home until power began to drop off, then a metal "ping", after which the bike immediately stopped running. The bike was still in gear but began to roll freely(no compression). I shifted to neutral right away and stopped it. I suspected the timing/cam chain breaking was the culprit, but upon inspection, i found the chain intact and tight. I'm now thinking that I threw a rod. I'm ordering the top-end rebuild kit, is there anything else I should address? Should I expect more damage beyond the push rod? Any help is greatly appreciated.
