400ex Suspension Mods
#1
In my quest to rebuild and give new life to my project 400ex, I wanted to upgrade her suspension a bit....
Any suggestions?
Reading online a lot of people say to throw on a set of 450R front shocks on the front, but I am not reading much about the back....
So is the 450R shocks a good choice on the front?
Any place I can get a stiffer spring to throw on the rear?? Any other options for the rear??

Send the rear off to be rebuilt. You can fit 450R shocks on with some modification, but they are not necessarily going to give you the best performance as a straight bolt on. I love the work GT Thunder does on suspension. Laz absolutely nailed my YFZ rear shock first time. To be fair there are a lot of builders out there these days doing good work also.

Sent you a pm. The 450R shocks will be a bit stiff and a rebuild on those could make them stellar. For the rear, you are looking at about $3-400.00 depending on what you want done. Add an aftermarket linkage and it will be higher but perform even better. If you are getting shocks built, it is best to do everything you plan to replace at once so the builder can fine tune the shocks as well as possible.
