For years, magazine writers have called the Polaris Sportsman 500 the "King of the 4x4s." In a much-anticipated shootout among new 2001 ATVs with 500 cc engines and automatic transmissions, Dirt Wheels magazine re-confirmed that title, declaring the Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. the winner over the Honda Rubicon 500 and the Suzuki Quadmaster 500. "If you want the fastest, most powerful, and best suspended automatic 500 cc four-wheeler, the vote goes to the new and improved Sportsman 500 H.O.," said Dirt Wheels. "It topped just about every category we tested it in, and at the end of the day no one felt beat or tired from riding it. It not only is fun and fast on the trails, but has also proven itself to be the king of towing and hauling." The Polaris Sportsman 500 is the world's best-selling automatic ATV. The new 2001 Sportsman 500 H.O. features a new High Output engine with 20% more power.

Don't care! Hey, those Sportmans are great bikes. But so is my Ruby. I don't care what any person (magazine rider or not) says about which bike is best. I love mine, and it has never let me down, and it does everything I ask of it. When I get some aftermarket tires, it will be even better! I'll read the article, but it won't change my life or my ride in any way. Would I consider getting a Sportman if I was starting over? Sure, just as I would consider the Ruby and the Prairie 650.
