Default Foreman 450 or Sportsman 700

Hello.

New to the forum and have a dilemma. I know this is a honda forum and people will be partial to them. I have worked on carbureted atv's for 20+ years and very little experience with EFI.

I have a 98 foreman 450s that I bought from a guy who bought it new and kept it in the garage and only used it for hunting so very good condition. I also have a 2005 Polaris sportsman 700 twin EFI that was used for a few years and sat for several years in a garage. Again great condition and running good after cleaning fuel system.

I have an 04 foreman 450es that I built for a mud bike but is not a hunting bike if you know what I mean. I love both the 98 foreman and the sportsman 700, but don't need to keep both. I love the bulletproofness of the foreman and the reliability. I love the power and comfort of the ride on the polaris.

So which one should I keep. Obviously they are 2 different bikes and not trying to decide based on a comparison. I have little experience with EFI, but do not mind learning, but I am kinda concerned about reliability as in leave me stuck in the woods. This atv will be mainly used to pull stuff around the yard, hunting, and trailriding.

What are your thoughts and opinions.

OK we are in the Honda part of the forum but the 450 was the most reliable Honda ATV they ever made. I don’t have any experience of the Polaris 700 but all ATV fuel injection set ups I have worked on are bad. Because ATVs are fuelled from cans, the filter system should be similar to that of a diesel engine, high capacity and easy to get at to change filter elements, but they aren’t. The Honda 420 is not too bad but the filter is too small The Suzuki 400 seems to have the filter and fuel pump plastic cast in one so can’t be changed at all. I had both a Honda 420 and a 400 King Quad in at the same time with seized fuel pumps, both pump housings were full of fuel that resembled black inkjet ink, both owners used the same fuel supplier, coincidence? It was the owners who had to pay for new pumps.
