Good buy or not - 2001 Foreman 400es
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2001 Foreman 400es for $1000. It has about 2000 miles on it. The rub is that I'm told "it cut off in water one time and the rings broke."
Taking fixing the rings into consideration, is this still a good deal?
How much will fixing the rings cost and is it a MUST right off the bat or will it still run but burn oil?
Thanks a lot for your input.

If it is JUST replacing rings and honing the jug, that isn't generally to expensive, mostly labor. My concern would be if water had any chance to sit inside that motor, especially if it doesn't run currently. It wouldn't take much if that wasn't tended to promptly and correctly. Worst case scenario you are replacing every bearing, the crank, piston, valves, etc. Even just pieces of ring could easily score the jug or head, take out a valve, get down with the crank... If you can hear it run, or if it is torn down to where you can get an idea of what needs replacing would make for a more informed decision.
