winch for Ruby
#5
I got the winch mount for $39.99 from Montana jacks atv outpost (they have a website). I got the brand new winch with a roller fairlead from E-bay, This was a promotional winch (Polaris and Yamaha have offered them). The dealer will not offer the promotion to the customer when they buy an ATV, but will instead process the paperwork and get the winch and mounting kit themselves. The dealer I got mine from said he pays the following:
$69 the customers price
$70 dealer participation fee
$25 shipping and handling
The additional $95 he pays for the promotion is why he does not offer it to some buyers who have haggled him down on the price. He told me he had a room full of them from the last promotion that ended in Dec. and he expected to get more as they run this promotion all the time. The dealer has about $165 in the winch and then sells it for slightly below or at retail in his store (which he says is over $400.00 including the roller fairlead and mounting kit) or he sells them one at a time on e-bay. He said he does not sell them more than 1 at a time because it drives down the bidding price. I had to bid on 3 different auctions before I got one at a price I was willing to pay. My winning bid was $230.00 plus $10.00 shipping. He ate the rest of the shipping since I let him keep the mounting kit. I know this may not be as easy as making a call, but it works and I have put the savings to use on other accessories. I won the auction on a Monday and had the winch on Wednesday.
