I'm sure that this has been addressed already here, but I can't find the answer. I just bought a new 400EX and the rear grab bar is part of the subframe. What's the deal? As soon as I flip that thing (which will be pretty soon I figure) it's gonna get hammered. Is there a mod I should do now before it gets damaged or is there an aftermarket subframe that I can buy that accepts removeable grab bars?

in my opinion the subframe is really strong. i've came off a jump front end went straight up and land righht on the rear wheels and grab bab and nothing. some companies are starting to come out with aftermarket subframe for the 400ex. look around your find them

Most of my riding buddies have 400EX's and only one of them has broken his grab bar off. This guy really abuses his also. If you are really concerned, get a 6-pack rack, it will take the damage before your grab bar. I really wouldn't worry about it. You are gonna ride, and you are gonna crash. Wear all the gear you have and fix the quad once it is actually broken. Incidentally, any compentent welder can repair a busted off grab bar for less than 20 bucks. It looked to us that Honda designed in a weak spot so the bar would break off clean and even and not mess up the rest of the subframe.
