Yea, they aren't necessary until the you smash up your frame and put a hole in your case. Then you wish you had them........I speak from experience.
Spend the money and buy full skids........they will save you money in the end. I don't ride rock hills but have come across some nasty boulders in the ditches and trails and sometimes you can't avoid them. Later.

Catch22, you definitely need a swingarm skid here, and a full underbelly doesn't hurt either. I have an Armadillo on my swingarm, and it works great. I did lose a little ground clearance, but I have 22" tires, so I more than gained it back. As for underbelly, I'm gonna get a PRM.
