Default Looking at 2010 Rancher with ?high miles?

New to this site!!

Looking for use utility ATV and need pwr steering so I am finding limited choices. Found 2010 rancher , top of line unit TXR420FPA EPS with 5000 miles and 600 hours on it. Very clean, older original owner, good service history,, use for trial riding mostly and around his property.

I probably will not put much over 300-500 miles per year on it.
Asking around $4500 for it, selling as he is buying new rancher.

Would you be concerned about the high hours & miles?

Is this too much money??

Thanks,
BT

Finding well maintained late model machines is difficult. They are either poorly maintained or abused. These Honda machines have a history of lasting a long time if they are not abused.

I have no idea on a good price point for a used machine.

I only buy used. Here's my opinion.( long read)

Is that in the States or rip off Canada pricing?

For that money you can do a lot better. Even in rip off Canada that's a lot with that mileage.
I don,t care if the guy shampooed it after every ride and married it.

For example in Michigan I was looking at a mint condition 2009 Yamaha 450 Grizzly with power steering and 700 miles for that price and it had IRS and diff lock and 25" tires and a winch.

Don,t go by year when buying used go by condition. I,d rather have the first 2007 420 Rancher made if it had less miles then a 2011.

A new 2014 plain 420 Rancher with warranty is $5000 in Michigan.2014 Honda Fourtrax Rancher 4x4 Es (trx420fe1e) 4x4 Es, Dearborn Heights MI - 113031542 - ATVtraderonline.com

Here is a used 2012 with EPS and only 1000 miles for your price. http://www.webclassifieds.us/1226601...ing-U2119.html

Are you sure its not in Kilometers? But that still 3000 miles which is lots for $4500.

My 2001 500 has less miles.

Sorry but I have to go on this rant.

Here is a vid of the much, much more expensive mint condition Honda flagship 680 Rincon with only 576miles from a rip off dealer only going for $200 more. Just to get you in the real world of things. The Rancher is 3 steps down from a 680 Rincon then its the 500 Rubicon then 500 Foreman then 420 Rancher and last 250 Recon.

When new the Rincon retailed at $8300 while the EPS Rancher was only $6400. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...e2=86975&go=Go and the Rincon is barley broke in while the Rancher is close to a rebuild overhaul.

If you must ,Offer the guy $2500 $3000 MAX!(If tires are superb) I,m sure he has better tires on it since tires don't even last close to 5000 miles.
2008 Honda TRX680 4X4 ATV For Sale-U1959 - For Sale - ATVs

If these guys sell mint 680 Rincons for $5300 then they sell mint 420 Ranchers for $3500,and usually private sale is better then from a used dealer.

The unit is in the US and is miles mot Kilometers. He and wife have pair of ranchers and they go on a couple of month long trips where they spend most of the time on the ATV - therefore the high miles.

Also he claimed that the dealer offer him $4200 in trade for a new one which I think is BS as who would bother selling themselves for $200 difference; plus we have high sale tax in WA which in the end would cost him more as he loses the trade-in value on the new purchase.

Thanks for the input. Now thinking what a ATV with IRS rather than fixed axel so am still looking.
