difficulty of rebuilding 400ex?
#1
I'm new to the sport and engines in general. I want to learn though and think it would be interesting and fun.
I like Honda's and especially the sport quads. So I was thinking of buying one that needed to be rebuilt, but was scared of the limitations and problems I would have.
How difficult would it be to rebuild a engine or swap on a tranny with a 400ex. I've done minimal work on vehicles such as, spark plugs, tires, brakes, fuel pump, and other misc disconnect stuff.

With a good service manual and a few specialty tools, you can do most anything on these. Or at least be able to take the machine down to the necessary parts that need a full shop's attention. Having said that, there are a million "projects" out there that people never get around to finishing. I have a couple myself, lol. Also having a knowledgeable buddy to help.when you get stuck is great.
