You could have put a ring in upside down or broken one when you put it back together, but it could just be a valve stem seal not fitted properly, probably inlet as the vacuum in the manifold rises when you close the throttle, so it tries to suck oil down the inlet valve stem.

If the fuel system is running too rich, it will cause machine to appear to be smoking at high rpms due to the fact that the spark plug is not able to properly burn the fuel and causes the excess fuel to "blow by" and exit out the exhaust. Also could be a ring or valve issue. As a mechanic, I have seen both cause machines smoke.

Either a ring is upside down or the quad is running too rich. Test the too rich first to see if you can avoid tearing the motor apart again. Run the quad and turn the air fuel screw until it seats in carb. Than turn the screw 1/2 turn increments until the quad is running at its highest possible idle. Than turn it in 1/4 turn and idle backs down. Hopefully that fixes the smoking issue. If not, you may have to tear into the motor and make sure rings are in properly.
