I would keep it stock.I bought a 86 trx250r all stock.Like yours and moded it almost as far as it can go.Short of a different frame and big bore kit.

I would rather have a stock 250r with 6 ply razr's all the way around than a piped one on trails. It is your choice.

You really are limiting your self with 200 bucks.

Here is what I would do.boyesen rad valve, hinson reed spacer, and K&N filter outerwear.Depending on where U ride U might want to take off airbox lid.And go 1 or 2 sizes on the main jet up.

86 trx250r wiseco .020 piston, boyesen reeds,FMF gold series fatty pipe, power core 2 silencer,JD performance +2 A-arms,white bro's white power shocks with adjustable res's all the way around,dg alloy series nerfs, durablue eliminator 2+2 adjustable width axle, durablue posi loc axle nut,Ac stadium series front bumper with # plate, renthal trx250r bend handlebars,PEP easy pull clutch perch and lever, nac's casesaver, fastline braided steel brake lines, braking brake pads, pro design kill switch,18/11/8 holeshot mx's on mithcell .190's,21/7/10 holeshots on ITP .190's

Exactly, go with the spacer, rad valve, and K&N

If you're going to do any mods at all (like those sugested above) you really should invest a little more money and get a new pipe/silencer combo. It all works together.
You can also try just riding it stock for awhile. See what kind of riding you like to do and where THEN figure out the mods for that application.

Go with what what 54warrior said and throw a pipe and silencer combo in there too. I know this will be well over 200, but it would be money well spent. It all depends on your riding style. In the woods that might not be your first choice, but if duning is what you do that combo is almost a must!

ok i know this is over 200 bucks but this is what i would do if i had a 250r (and i plan on getting one soon) first its pipes, then its a 300cc power valve big bore. hell yeah.
