2 Strokes...anyone else seen this?
#1
My Tecate4 runs wide open like the trottle is sticking. I went all through the bike, and the throttle works perfect. So I was talking to some other 2 stroke guys and right away they said "you are low on fuel", I thought this was nuts.
I went home thinking they were crazy, but I was stumped, so I filled the tank with fuel, and it ran perfect. I have been watching it for awile now and every single time I get low on gas, it wants to run wide open for 2-4 secs after I let off the throttle. I fill the tank and this crazyness stops.
Has anyone else seen this? And more important, why is my bike doing this?
Thanks in advance!

I couldn't have more of a completely opposite bike doing the same thing.
My ATC 70 does this also. It will rev high and the throttle appears to stick. I know then its low on fuel. So this must not be a 2-stroke thing.
None of my other bikes do this. And I can't think of an explanation why it would do this. I am sure some motorhead probably knows. Just wanted to let you know your not alone in having this problem.

Same thing happened with the chainsaw!! When it started to run well and finally cut the wood, that meant there wasn't much fuel left.
It does this because little gas reaches the carb/cylinders ,leaning the mixture, and making the machine run very hard....but it better be for a short time!

Riceburnin, is you atc70 a four stroke? I have never heard of this in a 4 stroke, all the Warriors I have seen and my 400ex run fine on low fuel. Maybe yours does it because it is a smaller cc motor? (you still have not called me to go riding? We are so close we should hook up and ride, My # is (330)505-1922 ask for Joe, if you don't want to call me, give me your #)
Zorro, does your Shee do this? I have also seen some JR.Dragsters do this also, but they are small cc 4strokes running on alky.

didn't know i was suppose to get a hold of you. Yeah I would difantely like to hook up and ride sometime. Just dont want you to feel bad since you won't be able to keep up with my ATC 70. yeah its a 4 stroke and none of my other 4 strokes do this.
Where do you ride? I am always looking for new riding areas. I ride a little around southington, vienna, champion, then to like hillsville and that.

It's called lean runaway...
Fairly common on a 2 stroke. In it's worst form, the engine cannot even be shut off with the kill switch, detonation takes over and the "Diesel" effect keeps the engine running, many times at a pretty high RPM. It's best to get the engine killed asap, as some pretty bad things are taking place.
