I had a used WebCam all-around grind before I got the HRC. I bought it used from East Coast ATV for $60. It was a waste of money because it was worn to the point that I didn't feel right putting it in. I thought I might send it back to WebCam to cover a core charge and get a new one, but they wouldn't take it back. Anyways, I wasn't very happy to lose the decompression feature like you do on all the WebCams. Also, I wanted to keep my stock cam just in case someday I want to put it back to stock. Performance-wise I decided that I wanted something hotter than an all-around grind- since I do a lot of dune riding. With the HRC cam I hope to find performance between a race cam and an all-around cam. Cost-wise, the $270 for the cam isn't bad if you figure that you're keeping your stock cam. Also, you don't have to get the hardened rockers- that saves a ton of money.

Before you put the FCR carb on you bike, what jetting did you have for the stock carb? I'm curious because I just did similar stuff to mine and haven't got the jetting perfect yet. Did you have to change your pilot jet?

TrailMix,
Do you have to run race gas with your set up? What was the total cost (Piston, Cam, etc) not including the FCR carb?

Thanks for the info.

I had a 160 main jet, 40 slow jet, can't remember how many turns out on the slow speed air/fuel screw. I'm at an average elevation of 800 to 1000 feet above sea level.

I don't have to run race gas, it runs fine on premium pump gas. The costs were as follows: piston, rings, pin $140, gaskets $25, bore job $45, cam $280, optional hardened rocker arms $240.

Since then I have found a cheap place to get a JE piston. www.motorcycle-atv-pwc.com sell the 416 JE piston for $155.95- that price includes the piston, AND the cost of boring and return shipping! $156 (piston/bore) + $25(gaskets) + $280 (cam) = $461. For about the same price as a full pipe you can get a piston/cam package that will do a heck of a lot more for you than just the pipe would.

Has anyone done business with this place (Wholesale Parts & Accessories)? They use Marcum's ATV in Palatka, FL. Has anyone had work done at this shop? If so, did they do a good job on the their engine work? Please help if you can.
