Hey guys. I just snorkeled my honda recon, but there is a problem. It had been sitting for 2 months so i changed all the fluids and cleaned the carb, but after i snorkeled it, it gets to much air. i have to start with choke and run at about half choke to get full power. If i run without choke it bogs down pretty bad. what should i do to restrict some air flow? or is it not getting enough air? i made the snorkels out of full 1.5 inch ABS pipes.

It is highly unlikely that snorkeling will cause too much air. There is "in theory" a tuning technique where the right length of air intake causes a "ram jet" effect, but this is unlikley to happen on a basic engine like the 250 Recon with it's large air box. My guess is the carb still isn't clean.

the recon has from the factory a TINY air intake, I had one years back, it had an opening the size of a quarter on a plastic tube, I opened it up and it ran like crap, had to melt and weld plastic back on to restrict it down close to stock size. If you are using a big pipe for your snorkel, it is probably running real lean, either neck down the end of the tube or go up a few sizes on the pilot and main jet, you will need to change the pilot to help it start and idle with all the extra air you are pulling in. To test if this is the case, take some duct tape and gradually shrink the end of the snorkel, if going smaller makes it run better, then you have found your problem. I would almost bet the farm that 1.5 inch pipe is the problem, the factory intake was almost that big, but the end is necked down to about the size of a quarter, so going that big is sucking huge amounts of air the tiny carb just can't keep up with.
