go to rotten.com and click on the one about the harley. Say "I bet he didnt have a helmet on either" My helmet was relitively cheap, only like 130.

I have a 300ex and I don't think you need a helmet. I wore a helmet on a bike rally and hit a tree and the helmet flew off. There may of been too many beer in the belly.

Go and buy a helmet before you buy anything else! Sorry to tell you buddy, but your dad's a damned idiot if he won't let you have a helmet to wear. Helmets are very important, and should be worn at all times. Trust me man. There's been plenty of people around my area that have been injured badly or killed because they weren't wearing helmets. Protective gear is the most important thing you can buy. Don't listen people who tell you otherwise. They can and will save lives.

No offense, but i truely dont believe this whole story. If it is true then i think your dad is a total retard with only half a brain...probably because he lost the other half while crashing an atv without a helmet on.
You DO need a helmet, anyone who says that you dont is smoking crack. Take a look at the statistics, a huge portion of atv deaths is by the user not wearing a helmet.
You can get a brand name helmet for like $150+ or if your low on caah you can get a pretty damn good one for less than $70. (denniskirk.com or rockymountainatv.com)
Sure you dont really need a helmet as long as you dont crash, but when you do...and trust me you WILL crash, everyone does at one point or another...you'll be very greatful that you had it on.
If i were you i'd show your dad the harley picture as stated above (yuck!) and tell him that hospital bills (that HE will have to pay if you get hurt) will be VERY high if you get a fractured skull. That'll cost him thousands of dollars, nut just a hundred like the helmet will.

Your FATHER is WAY OFF COARSE here.I am a ASI instructor. [ATV safety instructor]He better take a look at the responses we are giving you in here.Dad,LET YOUR SON BUY A HELMET!Call Rocky Mountain ATV at 1800-336-5437 and ask them to send you a catolog. They have GREAT prices in there.

Dad,as an licensed ASI instructor,I can tell you that helmets are LAW in most States.Regardless, hemets SAVE lives. One good accident and a blow to your sons head will KILL him.How will you feel if that happens? Will you be able to live with yourself?Accidents DO happen when you least expect them.Protect your head! Its really a no brainer.Buy the kid a helmet and do NOT allow him to EVER ride without one.

Please look for a helmet that has the DOT/Snell stamp on the outside of it.You will be sure to get a good quality helmet in the Rocky Mountain Catalog with these DOT/SNELL ratings. If the helmet does not bare the DOT/SNELL approval,DONT BUY IT,but PLEASE,get him a helmet,
Bill

Dude, I bought my Snell 95/DOT approved Thor SVS helmet for $169. You can probably get a high-quality helmet for cheaper than this too. DOT approved helmets are good, and MUCH better than nothing. But I think that to be Snell 95 approved, helmets practically have to have an anvil dropped on them and not break. They have to pass harsh testing. Anyway, whatever you do, GET A HELMET, ride safely and within your abilities!
