i was wondering about a estimate of how much it will cost to build your own quad. im asking in this forum becuase alot of people read it and it gets alot of replies.


like,if i buy maybe a 250R frame,and find a cr500r engine in a junk yard that works and everythng(it would be cool to build a 500R) or even a cr250 engine,or any type of engine and frame for that matter. how much do you think it will cost after the quad is done? not all the parts would be brand new either.


i really wanna know,im selling my CR and wanna get a 4wheeler,and been thinking lately about building my own. i could probably find a rolling chasis of some type and just buy a engine somewhere and just fix it up and stuff.


but yeah,how much do you think the aprroximate cost of the finished quad would end up costing me,rember,some pars(like engine) would probably come from a junk yard(probably for around $200-300 or so).

That really depends on what you want to put on the quad. There's no sense in putting a huge kick *** motor in it if you are going to have crap for suspension. Same thing applys the other way around.
I'd suggest trying to find a complete but beat 250r (or whatever you'd like) and go from there because just buying a frame and getting parts (even used parts cost $$$) will cost some big bucks...unless you are going to be putting all top end quality race parts on it, then maybe it will make financial sense. BUT if you are just trying to make a "beater" quad just to have fun on then you're better off buying one that is all together already.
To answer your question.....If you put all junk parts on it you could probably put one together for $1000 or less, depending on what kind of quad it is....If its a 250r (or the like) then you'll have to spend much more.
If you put top end high quality race parts on it then you can spend over $15,000
