Default What actually is limp mode

How does a honda actually go into limp mode. Is it an electric signal that does not send every spark?

Not certain myself but I think it is an electric signal that cuts the spark once the revs get to a certain number. The rev limiter does this anyway, but at a much higher number of RPM. Modern ECUs may cut the fuel injection too, or instead.

Limp mode explanation from Polaris is "retard spark, dump fuel" OR as some manuals say"Waste spark, waste fuel" mode to keep damage from happening to engines. That is if it is an efi machine. On the carb model 2 and 4 strokes the limiter just retards ignition timing which in itself won't let the machine run over 5 or 6mph in reverse without over riding it. How your machine works, maybe the same way?
