Who wears MX Boots when riding?

Generally speaking, the "MX" boots are waterproof... If you treat them with water repellant every month or two. I would also suggest that you use a saddle soap to clean and oil them, (it helps to keep the leather soft).
As for difficulty in shifting... I adjusted my shift lever "up" a notch. This allows for the additional clearance needed for the boot to fit under the lever.
You WILL get use to your boots, you won't always have to think when it comes time to shift and eventually you won't think twice about wearing them. It is a vital part of your riding gear... DON'T ride without them.

EVERRYYYYONNNEEE! Listen up. I learned my lesson the hard way. WEAR BOOTS. I wore tennis shoes and got some wire caught up in my axle and it wrapped around my toe, and nearly had to have it amputated, and not been able to play sports the rest of my life and i'm only 17. I was lucky they were able to save it. Still yet i had a broke toe and was out of school and doing nothing for about 2 months. ALWAYS WEAR BOOTS.

I never ride without 'em.
yeah, like everyone else said, shifting is no problem. it was a little different for about a hour or so of riding (big deal) well worth getting used to.
I used to ride a 350x, man kickin that thing without boots was ankle suicide. once got into a horrific crash, broke my funny bone and 2 bones in my foot. I was walking around the hospital for a couple of hours in my boots not knowing my foot was broke. thats how much support is in them suckas.
I got some old AXOs I got back around 1989. still goin strong even though they look like crap.

Well- I think I'll buy a pair. So far, every piece of protective equipment has come in handy. My nerf bars saved my leg the other day while I was hopping up a hill, and my chest protecter took 100% of the blow from my rear tire when the ATV rolled on me. I just bought that ACERBES XXL chest protecter. So for all you BIG guys who don't fit into the regular ADULT size- go check these out. Well worth the $130 bucks.

I have been riding now for over a year now and I just got my first pair of MX boots. Man O Man did I not know what I was missing. At first they where uncomfortable until they started to break in a little bit. You would not believe how many times I have been attacked by sticks kicked up by the front tires, I have the scares to prove it. As far as being waterproof they could be better. I guess I need to try to waterproof them. Any recommedations??

All riding Equipment is good when riding. unless your putting around in the yard, don't leave home without it. When your fully decked out in gear, not only do you look better, you have more confidence to do things because you know your well protected. Boots are by far the best part. They make standing up easier and shifting and braking cause less fatigue. Not to mention they great when you get stuck in water or need to walk up a really steep hill. You can wrap half your leg up under neath the quad and not feel a thing besides aqwardness.
