Help Me! My 250R!
#1
Man, i got the best deal ever! Today i bought an 86 250R, a big red, and another honda 3 wheeler for parts that i'm not sure what it is. But i only payed $500 total!!!! The engines are blown in all of them, but the main thing i wanted was the 250R! The chasis is in almost excellent condition to be that old. But now if my engine can't be fixed i'm looking one. So does anyone know where i can buy a good 250R engine?

They have all sort of used stuff.
Whatever the damage, it can always be repaired...what exactly is broken?
If you're changing the engine...have you thought about a cr250 engine? there have to be tons of em for sale, and they should be more powerful than 250R engines...

Thanks for the help, and i'll look into all of that.
As for the engine, i inspected it today, the top end has some bruising in the cylinder which can be fixed by a slight overbore. And the bottom has a hole knocked in it about 1/2 inch in diameter. The engine was in pieces, so all of the other parts i inspected seemed to be ok.
One more question, i got a brand new muffler, fmf something, i can't tell if it's powercore or turbine core, cause it doesn't say. And he also gave me a new header pipe. The header is A Cobra and has Cobra Atv written on. But the bend of it looks like a motorcycle bend, nothin at all like the bend of the 250R header pipes. Could this one just be different?

stay away from the cr250r engine idea..the lack of a counterbalancer will shake you, and the quad, into peices.

My 250R is a ATV, and what you said about the pipe i believe is right. It does look like it would bolt to an atc. Also, i got an fmf muffler with it, but i'm not sure what type, because all it says on the side is fmf. How can i tell if it's a turbine core, or powercore, and if it's form 250R?
One more thing, did the 250R's originally have key switches, cause mine has been raced before and the ignition stuff goes to a kill switch. Can i buy the key part?

My 86 didn't have a key.I am pretty sure the 88-89's do.MY dads old quadzilla didn't have one either.
I would look for a atc 250r motor.the 85-86's.They are the same other than a little bit of a different gear ratio. Also why not fix the motor U got?Have a good welder with a tig welder weld it up.And like U said rebuild the top end. That would surely be cheaper than buying a whole new engine.
86 trx250r wiseco .020 piston,boyesen reeds,FMF gold series fatty pipe,power core 2 silencer,DG alloy series nerfs,JD performance +2 A-arms,white bro's white power shocks with adjustable res's all the way around,durablue eliminator 2+2 adjustable width axle,durablue posi loc axle nut,Ac stadium series front bumper,renthal trx250r bend handlebars,PEP easy pull clutch perch and lever,909 grips,nac's casesaver,fastline braided steel brake lines,uni filter,pro design kill switch,braking brake pads,18/11/8 holeshot mx's on mitchell .190's,21/7/10 holeshots on ITP .190's
