Hi all I'm new here I just got a 2004 250ex and just got it all up and running good after someone butchered the wiring harness I thought that was bad now reverse neutral and all 4 gears work and shift great until I get into fifth makes a grinding noise acts like it wants to go then grinds I don't think the gear is stripped no sign of metal in the oil has anyone ever ran into this problem before could it be so.ething simple under the clutch cover any help on this is greatly appreciated

 

Only work on Recons but it is the same basic engine, and they do strip top gear. Usually there is no grinding, just an extra neutral where 5th should be.

Didn't see any. Can't remember what I found on stripping, but it was a few big bits that had broken off, nothing small enough to get through the mesh screen where the drain plug is.

 

Thank you for the reply this just sucks I think the people tore the wiring apart to mask the fact that it had no fifth gear I've never had a transmission apart before
