Edelbrock 400EX Carb
#11
i have the edelbrock on my 440ex and it's working out great..and you can buy them from golden west for 389.00.the fcr is a great carb, but,i can't see how it would perform any better than my quilsilver.the only jets you have to change are the needles, and they come with the kit when you get it.even the accelorator pump is adjustable..hope this helps you guys.....

Try calling GWC at 619-670-3368, Duncan racing also carries them and uses them exclusively on their 440 engines. Doug Eichner won the White Bros. 4-Stroke National on a Duncan 440 with a QwikSilver! You can reach Duncan Racing at 619-258-6306, ask for Lenny.

I'm just wondering. How did you like the quicksilver in the tuning department? I saw it in the denniskirk catalog and read it didnt use jets which sounds pretty trick.
Anyone know if it would fit a 300ex, with a little work of course?
I'm thinking of going with a 330 kit or at least a high compression piston, cam and some porting work this winter and i think a carb like this would just open it up even more.

The way I see it is there has to be a reason the FCR is OEM equipment on ALL high performance 4 stroke dirtbikes.
Machines like the Yamaha YZ426F and YZ250F, the New 55hp Honda CRF450R, the Suzuki DRZ400, the KTM 520's (SX520, 520E/XC, etc), etc... All the strongest 4 stroke bikes available.
Not to mention, it is the carb of choice in the sport bike (crotch rocket) world as well.

well if the needle has to be changed can the carb still remain in the quad or do i have to remove it... and about all this grinding the throttle housing and cutting the manifold and cutting off the intake tube... whats up with all the cutting???????

It looks like you can change the needle without removing the carb. I did'nt need to change it when my motor was 400cc and I still run the same needle at richer setting now that my motor is a 440. I don't know about grinding the throttle housing as I went with the twist. As for the manifold, you need to trim off the rubber ear that aligns the stock carb. The intake tube sits where the cables need to pass, so you only need to cut about an inch or so to make them clear.
