03 honda trx250ex not running right and smoking.

So I was riding it and it just died instantly. It smokes a ton and barely runs at full throttle but if I turn the gas off it'll run fine but won't idle. I changed carbs a few months ago to some 25 dollar one off ebay, cause it didn't run right and it ran great for a while just leaked gas a little cause the hose was shot. But I changed hoses a few days ago and left a bit of extra hose so if I need to cut it someday to get new hose. I don't know if it's getting way to much cause it doesn't use a fuel pump and maybe the extra bit of hose is causing something but gas will literally be leaking from the exhaust or something that is(smells like gas anyways could just be oil and gas from not firing) . I plan to get a dirt bike soon anyways but I'd like to have the thing around I've been riding it since my dad bought it in 08. Smoke seems to just be white I don't really see any blue in it or anything maybe.

I would guess that the float needle is stuck open. There is an overflow pipe from the bottom of the float bowl and, if the needle sticks, fuel should run out of this pipe onto the ground (it hangs down). So, I would guess a bit of that manky old hose you removed is stuck between float needle and seat, and that you have routed that overflow pipe up, so fuel can't run out of it and is running into cylinder and/or airbox instead. Route this pipe down, and clean out the float bowl, needle and seat. Check the oil for being diluted by fuel too. If it is, change it.

I would take the pipe off and let any overflow fuel run out onto the engine cases, I guess the reason for a pipe is so fuel doesn't dribble onto a hot engine, but at least if the float bowl does overflow, it will be able to get out, also you can see what is happening and turn the tap off. If fuel has got into the oil it will smell of fuel, but also be over the max mark on the dipstick and be thin, rather like hydraulic oil or ATF if much fuel has got into it. There are one or two other reasons for excess fuel, a jet come loose in carb, the choke mechanism stuck so it is on choke all the time, or a blocked air filter.
