2021 Honda TRX90 won’t start in winter
#1
Hi all,
I have a very new, very bone stock 21 Honda TRX90 that runs amazing in the summer time. Tried to fire it up today for a ride around the frozen lake, won’t run.
it’s turning over, and it tries to run on choke(barely) then a slight touch of the throttle it dies.
Should I mess with the mixture screw?
or should I mean with the jets? Guessing up? Pilot or main? Help!
thanks
thanks!

Have you been running it regularly, or is this the first start up for months? If you haven't been using it for a while, the carb may need a clean out. Do not start messing with needle or jet adjusters, if it ran right with those jet settings last year, it should run OK with them now, particularly as you have it on choke. Remove the jets and clean both them, and the holes they came from, out with compressed air. Check the choke is working properly, take note if any water has settled in the float bowl, this is common with E10 and the bike won't run right on water.

Hi!
I have not been running g it regularly is the short answer.
I bought it new October of 2020, rode it a few times then I tried to ride it last winter and it would not start. Spring rolled around and the temp got warmer, fired right up, ran all summer. Again we are in the winter months in Michigan and now I can’t get it going again. Last time it ran was a warmer day in January, a month and a half ago.
If it matters, I only use rec fuel.

Choke is working. Without choke I don’t even have a chance of starting it, it tries and tries and turns over but never fires up.
with choke, I can kinda get it running, but it’s super short lived and does not last. Maybe 3 seconds then dies. Touch the throttle in those three sec, instantly dies.

Give the carb a clean as I outlined and see how it is then. Height above seal level can mean carbs need altering, but I reckon it should run OK on choke even if the jets are wrong for your elevation.
