Locking transmissions, weak axles, junk air box's that break when the bike back-fires rider not knowing, and letting dirt in the motor.. practically all I saw over there! problems!!
There is just NO match for Honda quality.
"Id better get over there and buy my extended warrenty before my engine explodes" he he he
Honda's RULE, and somewhere deep inside, the Yamaha guys know it.

For every one bike with problems there's 20 that don't have any. Please educate yourself on the competition before you talk trash. You talked about junk air boxes that break when the bike backfires letting dirt in. That's not remotely close to what happens, the airbox has nothing to do with it. When the bike backfires the intake boot pops off the carb and the motor stops running. The airbox doesn't break and it doesn't allow dirt in the motor.
My cousin's 400EX has a tapping noise coming from the valvetrain, I've heard of others on EXriders.com complain of this same problem even after the valves have been adjusted. 99.9% of the 400EX riders that respond state that there shouldn't be any valvetrain noise. Boy, I heard about 10 people out of the tens of thousands of 400EX owners complain about a specific problem, I'm sure glad I didn't buy one of those POS noisy valvetrain bikes! Only the people with problems post. Very few start threads that say, "Had my bike 8 months now with no problems!" Nobody cares if your bike doesn't have a problem, people post to get help. That's why you're only hearing about the Raptor's troubles.

Not to mention the recall on 400ex frames (**** poor welds) any way I am not partial to any brand just get tired of hearing ignorant post and the originator of this topic must be and is looking for some attn, because he apparently isnt getting it on his ex so he has to bash Yam to try and get some e-mail.

The only recall the 400ex ever had was because some screwball was putting the font breakpads on the wrong was at the factory, nothin about frames. Also, while I have no problems with the raptor, it does seem to have alot of problems that were caused by going too far in an attempt to save weight. There also WAS a case of a broken airbox due to a carb-backfire.

MrC01400EX, that was truly one of the most ignorant posts I have read on here in a long time. I didn't see anybody in Yamaha making jokes about Honda's great new 2002 lineup with (drumroll) new YELLOW colored kiddie quads like the 300ex and 250ex. Gee, where's the "much rumored" 650ex??? What's wrong, you all upset because Honda doesn't make anything that can even come close to touching a Yamaha (Banshee & Raptor) or Bombardier (DS650) sport quad? Even the Kawi 650 Prarie is about as fast as a 400ex.
Why don't you take a look at the posts in the Honda forum; plenty of people are having problems with their Hondas.... What's up with that, does that mean that Honda isn't perfect in every way???
Personally, I like the 400ex as well as a lot of different brands of quads for different reasons. Just because I own 2 Yamahas doesn't mean I'm going to talk crap about other machines like you do. Grow up.

All I have to say is "people tend to remember bad things, the good things they forget" For every 1 bad yammy post there are 100 good yammy posts that havent been posted.... if that makes any sense... Honda is GREAT, BUT, yamaha is ALSO.. Dont forget it, both have their flaws but both also have TONS of good points... Except the dealers, they are a bunch of goons... and I bet alot of the problems with the new yammys are cuz of the dealers/mechanics....

Brokemybanshee, I bet the dealers have a lot to do with some of the problems. I know on my bike the day I brought it home I found the drain plug in the oil reservoir was loose and dripping oil. They had forgotten to grease some of the zerk fittings and some other minor stuff. I went over my bike with a fine tooth comb after I found the drain plug loose.

yep, my friendly local yammy dealer told me yamalube 10w30 was for "four strokes" and not to put it in my blaster..... if that says anything.. The only reason I'd bring my blaster to the yammy dealer is to have it never run again and to be a bottomless money pit....
