I was having a discussion with my Uncle and he says that he bought a Susuki because they were the first to build quads. I don't really know, but I thought it was Honda. Any help on these questions?

1) What company made the first 3 wheel ATV and what year?

2) What company made the first 4 wheel ATV and wht year?

 

Pretty damn sure Honda made the first quad...
I also think they made the first trike as well.

I thought this question would be a little different. I'm about sick of hearing the same old "which is the fastest"..."which is the best"..."Honda vs Yamaha" ect.......those posts are getting worn out. This one is fun.

 

I'm 99.9% sure Suzuki made the 1st quad.
Not sure about the 1st trike, however.

 

I'm pretty sure the first ATC was the Honda 90 from the early 70's. I got my first atc in 83 and there were no quads at that time. It must have been late 84 to 85 for the first quad. By the way I still think three wheels are better than four...

honda made the first trike, it was in the eairly 70's it was a atc70 or somthing like that, they also made a 90 around then I think, I just read that polaris clamed to make the first atv in the us, but I dont believe em. I just read this too

ATVs were first made as farm vehicles. They were made in China to help get to town from the farm. If you know much about China, you will know that China has some major hills in it, so they needed something that would be good for long, steep mountain climbs to get to town. Seeing as though a car was too big, and a horse would get very tired, and sometimes hurt, they came up with the HONDA ATV. (Well, what I mean is that Honda was the first production ATV that was sold).

You seem to know your history, but what year was this China thing? And were they using 3 wheel atv's or 4 wheel atv's? We are getting some history lessons now! I just learned something new.

I am 99% sure Honda made the first 3 wheeler but I was thinking that Suzuki made the first quad. Not too sure about that, though.
