Dont listen to any of these clowns. I have 250 Ex stock and I run with a 300 EX all day. Im in Denver so altitiude sucks a lil of my power but top end is 52 mph on the 250 EX. I think a upgraded filter, Pipe and correct jetting and you will hang with the 300 EX. Dam what do you people have against the 250 EX. I think you would be crazy to buy a used 300 EX instead of a new 250. Stay away from the engine mods, not much out there yet for the 250 EX. Start changing the engine and it would be cheaper to buy a new 300.
The 250 EX is a great machine..Ride on buddy!

I recently bought a 250ex and I would put it up to a 300ex. It lacks the problem in racing for no clutch and no sprockets but it flies better than a 300ex and the seat to peg hieght is actually higher than that of the 300ex. I enjoyed my 300ex before I sold it for my 400ex, But I will take the 250ex on the tight trails before either. It definetly makes the old 200sx look weak. The reverse is easy to use too. By the time you mess with the 300 reverse your gone on the 250ex. Your better turning the 300ex around by hand than using its cheesy reverse set-up.

I know, the 300ex is SO HARD to put in reverse. I mean, what were they thinking when they had you push a button AND pull a lever. what do they think we're rocket scientists?

Why waste time and money in trying to make a 250ex beat a 300ex, it won't happen.
