Winch Cant Get Wet?!
#1
Whats up with this.. I read my Warn 2000lb winch manual and it says it cant get wet.. How can this be? Why would everybody have winches if it cant get wet? Can someone please let me know if it is just there for legal reasons? Like my rancher can only cross 10 inch streams, lol yeah right.. Thanks!

I have the same winch and read the same thing. At first I was concerned but after a year of using it totally submerged and pulling out the bike, it no longer bothers me. I had heard someone else mention that it would be a good idea to clean and lube it once a year in case water was getting in. I can tell you that it will work under water {Thank $&$@ !}

I have a Warn 2500 and if the $%^&*@# thing even thinks it's wet it won't work. It was installed by the dealer and I think they must have botched up the install bigtime. Going to rewire and seal all the connections and hope for the best. The damn thing won't work if it's raining!!!! ARRRGGGGG!!! Superwinch is looking real good to me now and at half the cost.
Anyone else have a problem like this with their Warn?

I know the instructions say not to get the Warn wet. Mine has been wet, .. very wet as a matter of fact and it's always worked.
I'm careful afterwards to pressure wash the winch and cable and then spray the whole thing down with WD-40. (Works after pressure washing too.)
Anything less and I'd trouble-shoot your electrical wiring until it did work.
I'm prepared to coat the electrical connections with waterproof lube if mine ever fails to work.

Rancher4x4ESLuvr, yes it can get wet. Mine gets wet on every ride.
Rubidude, That little disclaimer has recently bit a friend of mine who sank his quad. He thought if he cleaned it up well they would never know. I told him they would.....well they did. The two easiest ways are to check the seat for water and check the battery compartment for sand or mud.
