RAPTOR or 400ex?????!!!!
#12
1. which one lands smoother from LONG, HIGH jumps? which can handle HARD landings?
Same, except the 400EX front shocks are pretty lame. So, I guess the Raptor has a little edge.
2. which one has off the line power?
Probably the Raptor, but shifting into second seems to bog the motor. It still pulls really hard, just sounds like it is bogging.
3. which one can go longer maxed out before overheating?
Don't know. Liquid cooling adds more moving parts and hoses, and radiators to break/rupture. Plus added weight.
4. which one is easier to maintain?
Like they said before, the Raptor has grease zerks. That makes things easier right there. Honda under lubes the suspension, so you should check it right away when you get it. I waited six months on mine (stupid) and the rear axle dust seals had no grease, so they were ruined.
Water cooling and Chain maint. on the Raptor probably makes it a bit extra effort to maintain.
5. which one will wheelie better?
400EX wheelies easy, but you can learn to do them on the Raptor with the same practice.
6. which one has better lighting? (headlights for night ridin)
Don't know. My 400EX is not very good, I can't imagine the Raptor is much better. Stock lights are notoriously weak on all ATV's.
7. what problems should i be worried about on each bike?
400EX, very weak front shocks. Underlubricated chassis from the factory. Handle bars bend easily. Steering stem bends somewhat easily. Stock tires are weak, need to run higher PSI than recommended (6-8 psi rather than 4psi).
8.which can fly around tight corners and is more stable? (when jumping and flying throw tight places) 400EX, to start with. With practice, they will be equal.
9. which has the least amount of maintaince on it?
Equal; 400EX: chassis lube is no fun. Raptor:Chain adjustment and water cooling make it a little harder.
