Are the 450Foremans really that slow or is it just me?

Hey, I have a '00 Honda 450 Foreman ES. And most times I go riding with my friends I'm usually left behind. I have a FMF Pipe, and K&N Power Kit and none of this really helps. I think its geared down to low, I usually take off in 2nd gear because 1st is too low for anything. Then once you get into 4th and 5th it's too high a gear to pull. The people I'm riding with have trx300 4x4, rancher350 4x4, arctic cat 300, and lakota 300, and I'm always in the back, because the Foreman is so slow. I'm thinking about selling it and getting a 400EX, because I'm not into mud bogging and all that, just trail riding, anyway.

Yeah it's slow but you should be able to keep up with if not beat all those other quads. I always thought 4th gear was spaced right but 5th is geared pretty tall. All I've got to say is those things all the torque you'd ever want. I figure why buy a 500cc+ quad when you can have more then enough power with somethign between 300 and 500cc's.

This may sound funny but are you actually getting full throttle on your 450es? Check over a few things like the cable and plug or even the carb jetting. I think you may just need an adjustemnt or two to be beating those guys. Here's another point to consider also. My bike is faster than two guys I ride with but I am not faster than them. I don't ride as aggressively so I tend to fall behind. Just a thought.

No, I'm an aggressive rider. That's why I'm mad that my Foreman isn't as fast as I'd like it to be...anyway, it may just be me. I like to ride fast, and getting a big 4x4 in the first place was a bad idea. I should have got a Banshee or 400EX...I'm 16 going on 17 this fall so I'm more into speed than riding around 10mph ya know? I got my Foreman up to 47mph on a paved road, what about you guys?
