YZ426 power
#3
I thought his comment was kinda funny. If you reread your post you did put, how much power would a 250r or 400ex frame produce with a YZ426 motor produce? It does kinda sound like your asking how much power the frame would make.
I guess what you meant is how well would this combo perform. I dont know the name of the racer, but someone is using this setup and is very successful. Quad is super quick. But why not use the new CRF450 dirtbike motor from honda? Something different and has more power.

ok try to understand. i ment how much power would a YZ426 engine produce with the ADDED WEIGHT of a quad frame. im sure the power wouldnt be the same in a dirtbike frame and a quad frame at the rear wheels.

It depends what frame. If you want the most power to the rear wheels use a ATC 70. The frame should let the motor produce 300hp to the rear wheels.
I estimate with the geometry and weight of the 400ex frame would only let the motor produce around 23hp.
I heard that the cannondale's aluminum frame doubles a motor's output. So maybe you would want to consider it.

The racer is Tim Farr, and yes he won it again this year on his YZ 426 powered quad. It think it was in the Lager(sp?) framed quad.
He has many articles on the motor and the differences in the riding styles.
He seems to like it...

If the 426 motor produces 50 RWHP on the dirtbike how does the horsepower of the motor decrease where you mount it??? IT DOESNT!!! It may take more time to spin up with the added axle and weight of 2 tires instead of one but peak horsepower should be within 1 or 2 hp.

I really think if you want the most power out of the frame then go with a E-ton 50 frame. I heard they make motors produce triple the power when put in the E-Ton frame. Then I would put those new fuel injected lug nut on and ad some roost boost paint job and the frame and motor will produce about 500HP. The frame alone makes 250HP with the roost boost paint and fuel injected lug nuts. Then fot the motor it wioll make at least 300HP with gold series power bands and oil injected intake. That would be a very potent combination the E-Ton frame and 426F motor and all those mods it will scream!!!!
