300ex for 250ex
#1
I have a 250ex and it is getting boring to ride. It aint fast enough the suspension on it is bad. I get it stuck all the time. I'm hopefully going to get a 2002 300ex. My odysse is worth 600 (electric start, new airfilter, and pipe). I'm not sure how much my 250 is worth I'm thinking about 3200.

Why would you do that? The 300ex has the same top end speed as the 250ex. And you will get stuck even more because the 300ex only has 4.9 inches and the 250ex has 5.9 inches. The only way to make the 300ex faster is get a 330 kit for it.

if you are getting stuck it is more than likely a tire issue, you migth not have the right kind of tire for your style of riding, invest in some better rear tires, maybe go up an inch for added ground clearance. Black Waters or Bear Claws seem to be popular for mudding on 2 wheel drive machines. You would be giving up shaft drive for chain drive and not getting any more speed.

Umm...Actually the 300ex will smoke a 250ex. You are just saying that the 250ex will stay with a 300ex because you have a 250ex. Well I have ridden both and the 300ex has much more power. I have raced a 250ex and I killed it. Infact, we switched 4-wheelers and the 300ex still won. The 250ex is a kiddy machine. It is a utility engine in a sporty frame. The 300ex top speed is between 60-65 around here. Speed depends on conditions a lot of times. A 250ex top speed is beteewn 48-52.

Excuse me, A 300 ex will kill a 250 ex...What are you smokin man, not a chance, I have both bikes and both are stock, except for K&N air filters on both. Not at any time does the 300 ex kill my 250 ex. Yes the 300 is faster. Yes the suspension is a little better but a stock 300 will only do about 2-3 miles an hour faster than the 250. Dont listen to these people who make assumptions not having ridden both. Im tellin you strait up. Oh and the guy who says his 300 ex will do 65, Sorry Dont think so man. Maybe in the back of your pickup truck...lol

Actualy 60-65 sounds pretty believeable to me. My X when it was stock was clocked at 61 this winter and no I'm not full of it. It's probly my elevation, that and the cold air makes your bike run better since it runs it leaner.

they are both good bikes for what they are designed for.
are you talking about gettin stuck muddin?
if you like to do muddin, you might just want to stick with the 250ex. just get some aggressive rear tires, but if you like more of a mx type of bike then you would be happier on the manual clutched, chain drivin 300.
