Has anyone ever run the carb air vent hoses up higher to keep water from getting in to carb?Is there any reason why this should not be done? Thanks.

Yes and yes. I have rum mine up the side of my snorkel. Basically in order for the carb to work properly it needs atmospheric pressure. Underwater it can not get this. It will also not get this if run into the airbox or into the snorkel.

Thanks,I guess it would explain why it started to die and then I had water in the carb but not a drop in the air box so the water must be entering threw those vents.

If you are getting in water that deep then yes you will have problems. Water in the carb bowl will be to the carb drain line though. You need to plug it when you ride in water. Use a screw or a stick to plug it up.

Why does it go in threw the drain hose?Does that check valve not stop the water from going all the way up there?Does pluging it cause any other problems? Thanks Texmud.

The 1-way valve lasted me about a month on both my quads. After that they started to die. Plugging the carb drain the only thing you need to worry about is turning off the gas when you transport it. This will keep you from getting gas in the airbox. I would highly advise ANYONE to move all vent lines as high as possible. On a Rubicon this includes the coolant overflow vent line in the rear (lowest on quad).

How do you check the check valve?Do you just blow in it to see if it will let air past it? Thanks
