Buddy want a quad...Help!

Everyone,
My buddy, 6' 3" and 180 #'s, wants to buy a quad. He rode my 300EX and loves it. I am getting an R in the next week and don't want to sell him mine but, he wants one and has NO experience. I think the 400 would be too much for him but would a 300 last and hold up for him? When he rides mine, he is a bit tenative. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!
