Wiring - Is this common?
#1
I went to look at a 300EX last night ('94). When I got there, the guy went to start it and got nothing hapened but a ticking. Kinda like with your car when you have a bad connection. It was coming from the seloniod...I think that is what they call it. It is right before the battery and is round. The guy said he never had this happen before. We had to push start it. Ran great, but this wiring problem is making me uneasy. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is this common? If so, what can I do to fix it and is it cheap? It was raining when I went over there. It had been damp all day. Could this be a contributing factor?

--Low voltage on the battery can cause that...
--A sticky or faulty starting solenoid..
--Corroded connections anywhere in the start system, most likely in the higher load areas...ground, battery terminal posts...
