Yellow faster than Red??? Is this true???
#1
I have heard this several times before from different people but I don't know what to believe. I've been thinking about dumping my new 300 EX that has not come in yet for a 400 EX. My dealer told me that the yellow ones are faster but I've seen the yellow and red drag race and we never had a constant winner. I'm just too confused who to believe. Can anyone help?

on the 300 to 400 issue, whatever floats your boat but on the yellow faster than red your dealer was feeding you some BS! there is no way in hell that one color can be faster than the other! just cause of that i would go to another dealer! that just leads me to think he will try to sell you junk or if you come back to get something fixed a wouldnt trust him! thats just my opinion i could be wrong (but prolly not)

Yes, yellow is faster than red, unfortunately for you green is the fastest of them all. That's why all those green Rancher 4x4's are beating the socks off of those red 400 ex's. If I were you I'd get a yellow 400 ex (fast already) and spray paint it green (to make it faster) then you'd have the fastest honda out there.

Its not just the yellow ones, but mainly yellow.
Honda found that their one manufacture of rev limit boxes had set the box to cut the ignition at 900 rpms higher than what honda finally approved. These boxes are mainly found on the yellow 400exs because the assembly lines are seperated at the factory in South Carolina since the yellow needs the different plastic and seat, and the stock for this line gets its boxes from this manufacturer.
The problem has been corrected for 2002 and dont expect the red or yellow 400ex to have an advantage.
