ok if i put a durablue lowering kit on my 250ex and then put 300ex shocks on it will it raise it back up to around stock groundclearence

If the 300ex shocks are a little longer than yours, yes. If the 300's are a lot longer you will have increased ground clearance and lots more travel. They should me about the same hiegth as before because i thinkt he 300ex has 6.5 inches of travel up front and the 250ex 5 inches.

woould it be better to upgrade to 400ex shocks

I'm pretty sure that to use 400EX shocks in front, you need 400EX A-Arms, and a special bracket for the tops of the shocks to mount to that gets welded to the frame. I Don't know about the back though. Sorry i can't help more

Those special brackets would serve as a lowering kit fo the stock shocks, just like the durablue lowering kit, so the durablue kit would work.
